Some significant effects of pandemic on psychology

The Covid-19 pandemic has paved the way for different psychological consequences on the population, mostly, exposed groups like children, and healthcare workers. In an effort to support the population, researchers have paid attention to this issue.
There are some causes related to the pandemic that have effects on psychological well-being, such as separation from loved ones, loss of freedom, uncertainty about the disease situation, and the feeling of helplessness. As a result, there are a large number of consequences, such as the rise of suicides.
In detail, regarding children and young adults, they are at risk of developing anxious symptoms. There are some significant emotional and behavioral changes, such as symptoms related to difficulty concentrating, boredom, sense of loneliness, uneasiness, and worries.
Next, with regard to healthcare workers, they are at risk to develop the symptoms commonly occurring in catastrophic events (earthquakes, wildfires, floods), such as burnout syndrome, physical and emotional exhaustion, dissociation, and depersonalization. Doctors and nurses are frequently in the condition of traumatic stress disorder when they need to consider which patients are cured due to the lack of treatments.
In the light of mentioned consequences above, the promotion of psychological interventions on specific groups populations is more likely to develop digital technologies in order to reduce anxiety and stress levels and increase self-efficacy. One of the solutions is telepsychology which is able to connect psychologists, psychotherapists, and patients via internet-based devices. This technology provides different mediums like chat tools, video calls, … in line with the needs of patients.
